Do You Want A Piece of My Mind?! (Article)

DO YOU WANT A PIECE OF MY MIND?!!??

OR

PEACE OF MIND…

Family issues, problems at work, road rage, aggravation, bills, worry, anger, hate, fears, insomnia, relationships.  How many other things do you deal with everyday?  Have you had it up to here?  Exasperated, do you think that, there’s got to be a better way?  There is.

Wait until you discover reiki (pronounced ‘rA-kE’) for yourself.  It’s not magic, nor voodoo, nor a religion or cult.  Reiki, a Japanese word, stems from ‘rei’ (spirit) and ‘ki’ (a vital mind force).  It’s a method of lightly touching with hands by an experienced practitioner, based on the belief that doing so produces beneficial effects, by normalizing and strengthening specific energy fields within the body.

If you’re of a mind that the only way to get better is through western medicine, then think again.  If you know about or have experienced the healing benefits of acupuncture, chiropractic, massage or prayer, then you will want to explore reiki.

An ancient practice from Tibet and seemingly lost over the centuries, it was reintroduced in the mid-1900s by Japanese philosopher, Dr. Usui Shikiryoho.  Basically, reiki is a universal life force that channels God’s energy.  We all have it.  Just as we use only a fraction of our brains’ potential, we also don’t tap into our own energy.  Gaining momentum, this old healing art is practiced in the U.S., Canada, Israel, Ecuador and other countries.

According Reiki Master, Scott Friedman, the philosophy is, “Heal yourself and in healing yourself, you’re able heal others and the planet.  Reiki energy is used to heal the planet one person at a time.”

At a recent Reiki Circle, Rev. Friedman, smiling, told the group of 50 that, “I have two types of cancers, one extremely rare.  It’s only through reiki that I’m still here.”  He’s an energetic, kind man who radiates good health, compassion and wellbeing.  Despite difficult treatments, he doesn’t take time off from work and has surprised doctors with his incredible progress.

Last year he held a Susan G. Komen Reiki Circle benefiting breast cancer funding.  Friedman says, “A woman came up to me and announced loudly, ‘I don’t believe in all this hocus pocus,’ and sat down, waiting to prove reiki doesn’t work.  Afterwards, she admitted, ‘I can’t believe it.  I felt something.’”

His site, Center for Spiritual Living, 1550 Ne 26 Street, Wilton Manors, FL 33305 has been steadily growing.  Reiki Circles are held here on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 P.M.-9:00 P.M.  A small $10 donation is suggested and both before and after the sessions, you’re invited for some hot tea and fellowship.  “We draw from as far away as Homestead, all the way to northern Palm Beach County,” Rev. Friedman says.  Go to the website: www.reikiforyou.org for more information.

Practically all of us have experienced times when we’ve walked into a room sizzling with palpable tension.  You could feel it.  That’s negative energy.  Reiki has the opposite effect.  You may come to a Reiki Circle weighed down with life’s demands, but when you leave you will be comfortable, relaxed and wanting to come back again—very soon.

You still don’t believe?  What wouldn’t you give for peace of mind—how about just an hour?  Besides, what have you got to lose, except those negative feelings?
